I use CUPS web panel to add and configure a printer. In GIMP, select the printer and change its setting. The syntax in the settings should have "-o raw" for laser printers. Also in the settings the ppd file should be /etc/cupsd/[name_of_printer].ppd or was it /etc/cupsd/printers/[name_of_printer].ppd. This file changes when you use the CUPS web panel or use webmin. I do not suggest using the GUI tools that came with the distribution to setup CUPS and printers.

The correct command for most setups should be lp. The utility lpr should work too, but its different.

I suggest browse through linuxprinting.org.

Brother DCP130c

Hi Electro
Changing the Print settings of the Brother LPR Driver
brprintconfij2 command as shown at Brother Solutions Center
Root terminal command Not found
The Gimp Still shows Printer HP Deskjet 900 series
Printer DCP 130c
Used File manager to add in etc/cups/cup.d/brother 130c/.ppd text file
Could you please clarify these commands.

Have browsed through linuxprinting.org
Will be nice to have Gimp print to DCP 130c
Thanks for reply
Maurice

Don't mess with cups like that. You need to launch a web browser, and go to 'localhost:631' to configure cups. After you get the printer installed in the web-based cups interface, go into gimp and and choose that printer in print setup. Print a test page to make sure everything is working right, also. You need to enter root <root password> to add a printer in cups.

Brother DCP130c

Hi AwesomeMachine
Thanks for details of localhost:631
Plenty to read and learn
/etc/cups/cups.d/Brother 130c/.ppd
Test page printed using Cupsv1.2.x
Gimp still shows HPDeskjet 900series
Printer name DCP130c
How can I delete HP printer in Gimp and have DCP130c Printing
Maurice
