Brother Printer compatibility
I have a wireless printer, a Brother MFC J825DW and would like to use it with my laptop running Ubuntu 12.04. I have a laser printer (an HP) which works, but the wireless printer would be an advantage. I am unsure where to start. I thought that the wireless signal would be detected by Ubuntu, but it hasn't. Any help re the steps I sould follow would be appreciated. Thanks. John

My Brother MFC J825DW came with a CD. There are full instructions available in the "Network User's Guide" accessible from /document/userguide/<language>/top.pdf. It sounds like you will want to set up a 'Ad Hoc' mode connection. Consult your distribution documentation on setting up your computer's wireless connection in Ad Hoc mode.

Hello JohnnyF, just use the Inst. Wizard. in the Menu, Network, WLAN and make a connection with your router. Next download and install the printer driver from the link below. Go to the printer configuration in Ubunut and change the port to a HP Socket port with the IP address of your MFC-J825DW.
