Brother MFC printing through D-link port
Here i have a Brother MFC9180 printer which is connected to the network via a D-link DI704-P dialup modem/print server.
From Brother website, it says that this model supports only LPR priting, but not method. I downloaded the respective driver, and configure the /etc/printcap to be like this: Linux09:/home/staff# cat /etc/printcap MFC9180:\ :mx=0:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/MFC9180:\ :sh:\ :rm=192.168.1.100\ :rp=lp\ :if=/usr/local/Brother/lpd/filterMFC9180: Linux09:/home/staff# where 192.168.1.100 is the address of the Dlink DI704-P print server. However, there is just no response on the computer, while the machine side says the printing command has been sent. I have tried various why to get it working. but it simply does not work. Could you suggest any means i can figure out this problem? Is that because the protocol problem? as i know this Dlink device is configured as to be used under Windows, because under windows pc, my collegue just uses "dlink LPT port' to do the print. |
