RPM build errors:
Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.19064 (%build)
jmclaine@linux:/usr/src/packages/SPECS>

What can I do from here to get this thing going?? I looked at the directory path and the "build" file does exist after I execute the command. I also tried to run as "root" and recieved same error.

Thanks all.

I had a similar issue and similar error when trying to compile modules for my webcam. As I recall, it had something to do with 'build' being either not symlinked or symlinked to the wrong location.

I just checked, and mine is linked to /usr/src/linux. You can check yours by issung
ls -l /lib/modules/<kernel version>/build
where <kernel version> is, according to your pasted text above, '2.6.4-52-smp'.

For reference, my output is
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Mar 7 01:45 build -> /usr/src/linux/

If the link is not present or correct, it will give you some problems.

Thanks for helping the "linux challenged". I issued the ls -l command as you instructed and have the following output.

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 39 2005-03-27 15:13 build -> /usr/src/linux-2.6.5-7 .151-obj/i386/smp

What's my next step? This is certainly helping me learn. I'm grateful for your insight.
