Question Broadcom's Linux kernel space hybrid driver, is it works on ubuntu 8.10?

I've downloaded these packages from broadcom's site :
- hybrid-portsrc-x86_64-v5_10_91_9.tar.gz , and
- hybrid-portsrc-x86_32-v5_10_91_9.tar.gz

said it ws the official release driver for Broadcom BCM43224-based hardware. Mine is BCM4312-something that works fine with ndiswrapper.

Is it better for me to replace ndiswrapper with one of those drivers?
Which one is suit with ubuntu 8.10?
What should i do if i do want to switch my wireless driver?

somebody have any idea?
I'll be very gratefull.

regards.

the linux driver works better because you are actually running threw another layer that slows the process down just go to system admin hardware and enable the driver in ubuntu it down loads and installs the firm ware and driver for you it is to simple.
If all you have is ndiswraper in order to use the hardware to get on line use it.
Ndiswrapper is just that a wrapper that uses windows limited driver. Bcm went open source a long time ago. but the firmware extractor is still under license and can not be distributed but as a user you can go get it and install it.
by using your apt-get or by using your system to do it for you.

fedora 10?
I gave up on fedora 10 down loaded it and they have way to many problems for me to fix. FC9 I had running great. upgraded to 10 and seems they forgot to upgrade there repositories leaving to much stuff. so after 10 years of loading linux on machines and using Slackware, red hat,Debian. I have come to the conclusion that FC10 will be left dead and they will push FC11 along never to get the older stuff running right.
Tired of FC losing to many hours of work fixing problems just so somebody at FC can take the time and do it Wrong. Just my opinion I am sure there are people that love it. But the last 6 downloads on four different days had bad mdsum5 at a 4 speed burn trust me my burner is working good there is a bad ISO.
