box wants to sleep

I can't leave my server box unattended. If I don't move the mouse for an hour or two, the whole hardware just halts. Power remains on, but nothing works, the screen remains blank, I'm not even sure the harddrives are still spinning. I need to do a hard RESET to reboot and get it running again.
I'm using an old PIII 450Mhz, not sure what the motherboard is. I don't see a "sleep"-pref in the BIOS.

How do I tell my lazy machine to stay awake?

Check the system logs to see if anything is logged before you have to reset. It may be there is a power management issue that's interfering with the system responding after a certain amount of inactivity. Also, finding out the rest of your hardware wouldn't hurt in trying to track down what might be causing it...
