Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Bootable USB memstick...

How do I make one? I have a 128 Mb memstick that I'd like to put the 2004.2 Gentoo universal minimal LiveCD onto it and make it bootable.

basically you would install a bootloader into it I guess...but the problem lies with BIOSes; you would need to make BIOS to look for a bootable thing first in your USB stick, and after it from HD (and/or floppy, cdrom etc). at least my BIOS doesn't support this, and I don't know if any BIOS supports that yet...could be, though, since I haven't seen a brand new one but at least I haven't heard of such thing..

so I guess your first problem is just BIOS.

BIOS does support it, but I was wondering how do you take a bootable ISO and put it on a USB thumbdrive.
