Bluetooth on Fedora 13
I just bought a Bluetooth dongle for my laptop with fedora on it and cannot get the Bluetooth service to start. Tried to do the same on my imac running Fedora and the same thing happened, it said service refreshing and never did. Any thoughts?

Is bluezd running? You won't do much without that.

good links but im still lost. Bluez is installed but i still cannot get the service to start. I think the reason being is that it does not recognize my Bluetooth adapter. Is there a config file i need to edit for it to do so?

Perhaps give us a hint as to what your bluetooth device is?

/health warning: By no means the world's expert here
Afaik, you need bluezd running, you need bluetooth devices in udev and the right modules. The bluetooth chip claims a device and you can deal with it through one of these fancy gui alternatives or cli commands. Plenty of howto's about.

Awesome, just as far as udev goes i have no idea about anything. I ran lsusb and it found a bluetooth device at Bus 004 Device 003.

Is it possible that neither of my devices are supported? That would be depressing.

Yes, it is possible your devices are not supported. It is also possible
1. Kernel simply doesn't have the modules
2. You have not made your devices discoverable. You make one discoverable, and scan with the other. Linux will sit there undiscoverable so as not to be a hacker target.
3. Something I haven't a clue about is holding you up. Is there an /etc/ entry (e.g. bluezd.conf, bluetooth/* ).
4. You haven't made device nodes. As a general rule, HOWTOs that say things are simple are useless. The ones where the guy writes a howto after struggling through the nightmares are the good ones.

Great, but why not tell us what the device is, as I asked earlier?
Code:
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)

Like I said Its whatever an iMac and every other apple product has. I guess its based on a Broadcom chip

Here's the way this usually works
1. You moan
2. We ask questions and make vague suggestions
3. You answer the questions and do the homework on our suggestions, & let us know
4. Either a: You are inspired as a result of your homework and find the problem
Or b: We spot the issue and pronounce an exact diagnosis
5. You do what's suggested and thank whoever helped you
We are kind of stuck on the bits in bold here. Like even your controller and the device. I looked back through this post and saw these

You say you need bluetooth. Did you get those listings from lsusb? If so, is not that dongle is connecting to your pc by usb?
Also, have you wifi set up? Is that chip able to do wifi and bluetooth?
