Bluetooth dial-up connectivity issue with Motorola v360
Im using openSUSE 10.0 with the default 2.6.13-15 kernel and an ioGear usb to bluetooth adapter (not sure of the exact model number). My problem is this:
I am trying to use my Motorolda v360 as a dial-up modem through kinternet. I previously used an N-gage qd via bluetooth to connect through my same carrier, T-Mobile (and I still am, until I can get this issue resolved) which worked perfectly, so I know i'm not having any sort of configuration issues with my dial-up setup. When I initally got my v360, I couldn't get it to connect to my computer in any way whatsoever. Any time any interaction occured with my computer and the phone (pairing, communication request) the phone would display "Service not supported". Eventually I got the idea to set authentication through the Yast bluetooth options, which forced my phone to accept a request for a pin, and tricked it into allowing a connection initiated by my computer any time I needed. I then set up rfcomm0 to bind to the phone, which works perfectly, because any time I start kinternet, the blue kbluetoothd icon shows up in my system tray, and the bluetooth icon appears on my phone. But, although the bluetooth connection is obviously reaching the phone , the dial-up request isn't. After a minute of connecting, kinternet will say "Failed to open /dev/rfcomm0: Connection timed out".
Occasionally, if I get really lucky, a message appears on the phone asking to accept a networking request, and upon pressing the yes button, kinternet connects to the phone and a connection is established with my EGPRS and I can use the internet freely. However, this luck occurs few and far between my dozens of tries to connect, and sometimes won't happen at all.
Normally, I would chalk this up to a configuration error, but since it occasionally (and i mean OCCASIONALLY) connects, everything seems to be set more or less right. My only other idea would be that my bluetooth adaptor is faulty, but if i release rfcomm0 and bind it to my n-gage qd, it will connect on the first try. I could also say that bluetooth with my v360 works perfectly under Windoze (I installed XP on an extra HD just to test it), so it's not faulty either.
If anyone has an idea of what might be preventing the dial-up request from reaching the phone, or any way around the "service not supported" message that my phone gives me whenever I try to pair it, please reply!
