Blackjack tethering via USB, not recognized? (debian)
I have been attempting to tether my Blackjack to my Debian laptop to take advantage of my unlimited data plan.
After I plug it in, Debian doesn't respond to it at all. Under the network manager there are no options for USB0, or PPP0. Any ideas? Am I missing some packages? Thanks! |
In Debian I used wvdial to connect to my Palm Treo's evdo network. This is an old thread, but it gave me the info I needed. Check out the wvdial.conf examples, You didn't say which network you were trying to attach to (verizon, sprint etc.), but there examples for all in the thread.
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-343989.html Good luck Hope this helped. Edit: In Fedora 11/12 Gnome, I now use Network Manager instead of wvdial, which works just as well. I'm tethering with a usb cable. |
Ah, thank you much! I finally (after some configuration, and about an hour of manually downloading .deb's) got it working. And now it allows me to connect!
Thanks! PS- If anyone could tell me why LQ is showing me as using Ubuntu, that'd be great... (see bottom left corner of user info next to post) |
On the bottom of this page is a "Contact Us" button. I'm sure if there's a bug in the distro recognition app, Jeremy would like to hear about it.
