Black Screen during installation

Hi

Tried installing Fedora Core 6 just now, but Im running into a black screen during the installation.

I`ve just checked my dvd, selected my languange ang keyboard language. The system moves on, telling me that its loading anaconda. Then it says something about probing my videocard, before the screen turns black.

If i press any key, the harddrive thinks, but thats all. If I press ctrl-alt-delete, my screen returns, telling me that its shutting down.

Whats the problem and what can i do?
Keep in mind if trying to help me, that this is my first experience with Linux whatsoever. Would say my skills otherwise are above average, but be nice with the technical words

My hardware:
Acer Ferrari 4005
Ati Radeon X700
Turion 64 (Im using the x86_64 version found on fedora`s homesite)

From before ive got a xp verson installed. Before trying to install fedora, i made a new partition (ntfs) to use. (Even though this doesnt have anything to do with anything)

Please help, would really like to test out a Linux version.

At http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/install-guide/fc6/en/ you will find the Fedora Core documentation. Many installation routines offer several video modes. From http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/instal...tallation.html you can see that entering "text" should give you a text mode installation. I suggest you search in the Fedora forum for further issues -- ATI is not very well supported in Linux (ATI's drivers often give problems), but there should be threads on how to get an ATI card working.
