Whoops. I hold my hand up. I have managed to put the bios battery in the wrong way round on my motherboard. On putting it round the right way as soon as i apply power the cpu fan and power supply fan both spin for a few seconds then they both stop. Nothing else happens, no beeps nothing....could i have blown the motherboard!!!!?
Possibly, yes. Or hopefully you've just scrambled the BIOS a bit.
Have a look in the manual for how to reset the BIOS. Normally you can take the battery out and change a jumper over. Wait for a bit and then reset the jumper and battery.
You may also be able to just power down the PC, then remove the battery for about 30 minutes. Put it back in, and at least in theory, you should be good
nope! left battery out overnight. put it back in right way round this time. applied clear cmos jumper then Re-set jumper. Applied power.... same old problem cpu fan and power supply fan spin for 5 seconds then both turn off. Only other component on board is cpu... Me thinks i have a dead motherboard?
