Best supported video card chipset?

I just built a new computer, and it turns out that my onboard video card isn't supported without patching, recompiling, etc... I've tried patching and that didn't work. I'm looking for a cheap card considering the fact that I'm not a huge gamer. I just want to be able to watch movies, and so on...
What's the best supported chipset? Nvidia?

I'm using:
kde-3.2.2-8.FC2 Red Hat
Kernel: 2.6.8-1.521

Any nVidia card will work. They are easier to install.

follow some of the links on that page. i just configured my nvidia card and it took some time, but was simple enough to figure out with a bit of leg-work so to speak.
