Best option for .avi output to s-video to RCA
It's time for me to get a new DVD player, and If I do, I will get one with .avi playback. The only ones that play .avi though are DivX formatted .avi right? So I was thinking I have an s-video on the back of my PC(Core2Duo Extreme with 2 gigs a ram)that I could run to a s-video to RCA converter box and then run this little 7$ audio converter/plug which will output my sound from my surround sound in the back of my computer to the s-video to RCA converter and output the video and sound to two different TVs in my house. Does anyone have any better alternative than that? Cause I've grown weary of trying to shuffle in the time to transcode (tovid) and then create DVD iso(varsha) image and disk structure from the large amount of avi files I get with trying to go to school and advance my Linux skills at the same time.
