Best choice of WiFi chipset to work in AP mode?

Hi,

Can you recommend some chipset, that has a stable driver, supporting AP mode? Stable is a keyword here. It doesn't have to be N as well, I can go with G if that helps.

I am creating a wireless access point out of a Debian Lenny box. I'm palying with Atheros based mini-PCIe card, madwifi driver and hostapd. I have to support WPA2. So far I managed to configure everything so it works but it's really unstable. I am getting a lot of problems with stuck beacons, so I guess I have to switch to something else.

Prism based cards are a good bet, and anything that uses the hostap driver (which is not the same thing as the daemon) should work pretty well too.

I have had problems with madwifi and Atheros in the past myself, it seems like it only works when it wants to. I have had pretty good luck with RTL8180 as well, though it wouldn't be my first choice.
