Backport e1000 driver

Can someone help me with this? I'm a kernel newbie.

I have to run linux-2.4.19 because the hdlc routines since 2.4.20 are broken.

I need to change to a Dell 400sc server which has an on-board Intel PRO/1000 NIC card. linux-2.4.20 has the e1000 driver for this NIC, but 2.4.19 does not.

How do I back-port this driver to 2.4.19?

Thanks for your help!
Mike

You can download the out-of-kernel tree driver sources from Intel, e.g

http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...?ProductID=988

If you can't upgrad ethe kernel, that is probably the best.

Hope it helps,
mlp
