915G uses ICH6 high definition Azalia ie,realtek ALC880 codec.pls see the link for debian:

for suse 9.1 i got perfect sound with inel driver.Check whether u installed Kernel-Sources pack for ur kernel.thereis nothing to do with swap.if u want to make a swap partition read

Also installing ALSA rpms or compile ALSA manually will be better than installing intel's eta driver
for graphics u should install intel graphics driver
