Audio AC'97 Problem

I installed Fedora Core 2 in my computer a Dell Dimmension 4400 mainboard Intel Fedora recognize the Sound Card but when I try to listen some audio file I can't listen anything... of course I check that the speakers plug is in the correct hole....

i don't really want to troubleshoot this whole thing for you, but perhaps i can point you in the right direction:

I had a similar problem with slack 10.1 -- inspiron 5100 AC'97, no sound out of install.

fix was new kernel with alsa (and proper sound support). and then alsamixer / alsactl store

my kernel version is 2.6.5

Have you tried any mixers as suggested? Could we please see the output from
/sbin/lspci -v, and /sbin/lsmod?
