aticonfig/fglrx error on Debian with card Radeon HD 6870
So i tried setting up fglrx driver for my card using the steps outlined here:
wiki.debian.org/ATIProprietary but when I get to the step where it tells me to use aticonfig i get this error: Code:
aticonfig: No supported adapters detectedCode:
Section "Device"However, I was successfully able to install the drivers on my Ubuntu install (different partition on the same machine) but not my Debian install. Anyone know how to fix this? |
This is because the catalyst 10.9 ( which, I believe is what you installed in Debian ) does not support the 6870.

if I switch from Debian stable to testing (and how do you do that exactly?), will the testing non-free repo have >10.9 ?

Sid/Unstable has 11-6-2
Wheezy/Testing 11-4-2 The testing driver will support your card. Read about the testing distribution http://www.debian.org/releases/testing/ and http://wiki.debian.org/DebianTesting To upgrade: edit your /etc/apt/sources.list file from "stable" or whatever you have to "Wheezy" Code:
aptitude update && aptitude dist-upgradehttp://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Deb...F7.0_and_Later |
