ATI Radeon Mobility -> Slackware problems

Hey.

I have an Compaq presario 2100 with an ATI Radeon Mobility 64 mb card...

When i am running slackware on it X works fine wehn running it with 1024x768 and default settings.

But i want to use 1280x1024 or more, and when i try to config the drivers for the ATI card and the monitor my x server crash with saying it can't find any devices!

i tried diffrent ati settings but nothing are working.

no i got no ideas left what to do, so i hope someone can help me out with this problem!

you have to use vesa drivers and pick a generic laptop screen (lets you pick res too - here is a great link) http://lisonbee.freeshell.org/linux/...ario_2100.html
I have a presario as well, and am way new to unix in general. I am running redhat 9 and having a hell of a time with acpi and pcmcia. If you find out anything post back!
