Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 / XFree86 fglrx configuration question

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to configure an ATI fglrx XFree86 driver to allow different resolution and refresh rate on a laptop's default LCD screen and its external monitor.

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook N Series, with an ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 card (M9 RV250 LG chipset), running RedHat 9.0 / XFree86 4.3.0. I installed the latest ATI fglrx driver (fglrx-glc22-4.3.0-3.7.0.i386.rpm) and I configured it so I get a cloned output (LCD display and an external CRT monitor). However, I don't know if it possible and how to get different resolutions on the LCD and the CRT. They both run at 1400x1050, which is the LCD's native resolution.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Attached is the driver section of the XF86Config-4:
