ATI Radeon 4650 HD audio controller clash

Hey.

I bought an ATI Radeon HD 4650 graphics card recently, but since i installed it, Ubuntu won't play any sounds. Amarok with xine as the engine says it it couldn't initialise any audio devices - device busy, and with yauap, or in any other audio application, it says "Invalid arguement"

I have no idea what the invalid arguement error could mean (other than it doesn't recognise an arguement), and i don't see why the audio device would be busy. Since it's only done it since i installed the graphics card, i think its the onboard audio controller clashing with it. I've tried disabling it in the BIOS, but linux still saw it. I also tried rearranging the IRQs, but that didn't work either.

Help!

Thanks in advance,
McMajik

i just recently bought the same card to upgrade from my x1650 same problem i did find a way to kinda fix it but the sound will only work if the music/video/w/e is played form your computer so streaming sites like youtube/hulu no sound what i did was i had to use kmix to select my sound card from the drop ddown list it defaults to the video card for sound and un-mute all he setting gmix would prolly be able to accomplish the same thing but a more permanent fix i don't know about i tries rerunning alsaconf deleting the current alsa configuration restarting the machine and then rerunning alsaconf no luck i've been loking online for ways to disable a sound card and have found a few ideas only one or two of which i have tried to no avail but other than that i think it is a decent card
so any help would still be apriciated

Eh, I found a fix for it. I just blacklisted the ATI audio module. Fixed for ever.

Although, i have the same problem with streaming sites, and have yet to fix it.

If you don't know how to blacklist it/what module to blacklist, i'll post details in a bit. (EWW, i needz to use windows for computing coursework ATM)

ok i'll do that i guess even tho i would still like to find a solution that solves streaming sites i think there might be a way to force alsa to only recognize the actual sound card and ignore the radeon completely this would solve the problem w/ streaming sites and everything my friend and i were discussing it the other day but i haven't tried it yet when i do i'll post if it worked and how to do it

i'm surprised no one else has had this problem either that r everyone who has had this problem has yet to find a solution yet
