ATI Graphics Question

I'm running FC4 and i've got an ATI mobility 9100 igp. The ATI drivers don't support 3d acceleration for this card... my luck.

Quote:
Caution: This software driver provides 2D support only for the ATI Radeon® 9100 IGP and ATI Radeon® 9100 PRO IGP.
Does anybody know of any way i could get 3d support up?

Thanks
Byblyk

from ATI DRI FAQ:
Quote:
3D support in Radeons

Open source 3D acceleration is available on all radeons up to and including the 9200 (rv280). 3D support for r300 based cards (9500 and above) is only available from ati's binary driver.

ATI binary linux driver downloads
The 9100 is an R200 based card: they are supposed to work with fireGL drivers.

I'm fairly certain that in that document their refering to the AGP/PCI models. I've got an IGP which is supported in there drivers but only for 2D. I had to double check that myself.

I got my info from here

Thanks

OK - if you don't want to use an open source driver that's your lookout.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radeon_R200

...and this from http://www.answers.com/topic/radeon-r200
Quote:
There had been no reported cases of the PCI version of the card achieving hardware acceleration with the manufactures drivers, however the open source drivers provided in recent builds of the Linux kernel (2.6 and up) had yielded positive results.
... I think the kernel module is called "fglrx".
