ATI drivers and low fps...any tweaks?

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Let me start off by saying that I have an ATI Radeon 8500 128ddr and I'm running RH 9 with 2.4.20-20.9 kernel. I simply ran the rpm fglrx-glc22-4.1.0-3.2.8.i586.rpm for my video card. That's that. Whether it ran/worked or not, I'm not quite sure. If there is some way to test this, and you are aware of this way, please let me know. I ran glxgears and got the following output:

2054 frames in 5.0 seconds = 410.800 FPS
2262 frames in 5.0 seconds = 452.400 FPS
2262 frames in 5.0 seconds = 452.400 FPS
2262 frames in 5.0 seconds = 452.400 FPS
2184 frames in 5.0 seconds = 436.800 FPS

If you know of any tweaks or ATI specific tools that I could use for upping my fps, I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks!

A fix

Well, I just got through sloving this problem, and here is what I did. (I have a 9600pro)

opps...Just remembered to ask, did you run fglrxconfig? If you didnt, that may be your problem.

*NOTICE: This only works if your motherboard runs on a VIA KT400 chipset. I've not the slightest idea of what would happen if done with a different chipset.*

changed line 6073 in the agpgart_be.c file in /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod to read

via_kt400_setup

in that folder, do a ./make.sh command, then a cd .. , last a ./make_install.sh
