I know alot of people post ATI help, and I am one of them. Please do not dismiss my post as I have alot of info one the box I need off.

I use suse 10 now, and kde gui. I had everything working nicely, direct rendering, mplayer...etc. All of a sudden I noticed that the random screen saver wasn't displaying opengl screen savers. Checked glx info direct rendering = no.

When I installed the ATI propritetary driver I used the setup found here:

This installation went well so I have no idea what would have caused the driver to fail. Does anyone know of any app or such, kernel update that might cause this???

It is a raedon 9600se 128 meg card pci.

So i uninstalled the fglrx via suse which left alot of ATI stuff behind on the hdd.

So I redownloaded a package from ATIs' site and it just says attachment. So I ran the sh ./attachment from a console and built a distro specific rpm. I installed with rpm -Uhv and failed.

It says something with xorg.conf I think along the lines of errors at

/usr/src/kernel-modules/fglrx/.libfglrx-ip.a.GCC4.cmd for /usr/src/kernel-modules/fglrx/.libfglrx-ip.a.GCC4

I think there maybe more errors, is there a way to post my xorg.conf and what other files should I post? I need to know howto as I only have a console.

Believe you would just mount the floppy and copy xorg to floppy
What is the syntax, also will some here please read them.

I'd love to at least attempt and help. To post your xorg.conf file (assuming your not using that box to get online and post), either use mtools (mcopy /etc/X11/xorg.conf a or mount the floppy and then just cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /mnt/floppy. Also /var/log/Xorg.0.log is very useful in checking out the error messages.

You know, if you look for the (EE)'s near the middle it shows:

if you run '/sbin/modprobe fglrx' from the command line, does it work or do you get errors? If we're not loading the module, there's no way its going to have acceptable performance.

Would you like to put the card back in and try, or should one attempt to get the onboard graphics to remove data from box?

I have read a lot of posts aout trying to remove all traces of ATI from their box and no luck I also tried to query my fglrx package and it said nit installed ut i opened yast and found fglrx installed version 8.20.8

My best method to remove anything would be to just format/reinstall ( a bit of a holdover I guess from working with windows so much). Why not just try the card, that should be quicker than mucking around with uninstall/reinstall, right?
