Aman9090: i've got the EXACT same problem as you do... i'm running slack 9.1 on nforce2, r9700. the problem is similar to the detail. if i use the integrated driver "radeon" the machine reboots... there must be a solution to this. thanks for the help. regards, skank.

I am afraid that those of us using the 9700 will need to wait for the new ATI driver release. From what I understand, some distros don't have this issue after patching their kernel. Anyway, ATI should be releasing the new drivers any day now.

i guess it wont hurt to wait... i don't actually need opengl support that bad... but having something i'm not taking advantage of is a bit frustrating (even if it's only a nice gl screensaver )

well what about for me? I am running a radeon 8500 ... Is there any sollution?

I am starting a new thread for this in the Slackware section - this one ahs been muched up with lots of replies and my constant bumping I will make a similarly-titled thread in there so check over there!
