The guys over at the gentoo forum said i was in a problem and stick with software but I refuse. So here is the thing. I have Xfree 4.3.0. I have a ATI 9600 xt that works great(in windows) and i have a biostar m7vit that has the kt400 chipset. Thats the root of my evil. I found patches etc. but they all said it was irrelevant in the 2.6 kernel. Here is the output of dmesg.
Code:
Mar 16 17:04:04 josh Fire GL built-in AGP-support
Mar 16 17:04:04 josh Based on agpgart interface v0.99 (c) Jeff Hartmann
Mar 16 17:04:04 josh agpgart: Maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 690M
Mar 16 17:04:04 josh agpgart: Detected a Via Apollo KT400 chipset in AGP v2 compat mode at 0000:00:00.0
Mar 16 17:04:04 josh agpgart: Detected Via Apollo KT400 chipset
Mar 16 17:04:04 josh agpgart: unable to determine aperture size.
Mar 16 17:04:04 josh [fglrx:firegl_unlock] *ERROR* Process 3408 using kernel context 0
The agpgart that comes with the kernel crashes x and kde when it even thining about calling a acclerated function so I am forced to use the ATI one. In the x config I have UseExternalAgp or whatever set to no and have agpgart and my chipset configured as modules in the kernel config also with DRI no even in there as a module or such since it doesn't support my vid cards chipset. Any thoughts or what on this? Anything else you all need to look at?
