athlonmp binary distributions

anyone know of any binary distributions that will boot smp and run stable on athlonmp hardware (IN GUI MODE)? The latest I have been able to get up and KEEP UP, has been RedHat-7.3. I experience instability from all other distributions I have tried, and they are;

RedHat 8 (locks up after 10 minutes)
Mandrake 9 (won't boot smp)
Lindows 3.0.5 (won't boot smp)
MSC March2k2 (locks up after 10 minutes)

NOTE:All of the above run just fine UNIPROC

Remember that the hardware is the same and the default full install was selected for all.
The hardware is;

MSI K7D Master w/64BIT PCI
AthlonMP 2000x2
29160 scsi 64BIT PCI
Cheetah 15K rpm disks
Gforce3 video
sblive sound

I am confused as to how rh7.3 full install can run for months of excessive use without an init 6, and rh8+ pukes within minutes. The lockups are very harsh, and won't allow CTRL+ALT+F1 or CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE.
Oh well, I am not really complaining -- rh7.3 is very complete and endures punishment I wouldn't wish upon any win32 system, just wish I could upgrade it.
Thanks in advance for any comments.

The lockup on the RH8 problem is probably traceable and as for the rest: I think Mandrake still produces an SMP kernel RPM for every release, and I know you can install SMP on Slackware, and everything is always an apt-get away with Debian, but what I'm confused about is why not just recompile your kernel SMP? With that monster it'll probably take under a minute.

Cheers,
