ATA abnormal status

HI,

I'm running sabayon 3.25 with kernel version 2.6.19 on an acer 5050(ATI Xpress1100 chipset) with a 120GB WD PATA hardrive

on boot it does this:

Code:

ata2: SATA link up 1.5 GBps
ATA abnormal status ox7E on port OxFFC*****
ATA abnormal status ox7E on port OxFFC*****
ATA abnormal status ox7E on port OxFFC*****
ATA abnormal status ox7E on port OxFFC*****
ATA abnormal status ox7E on port OxFFC*****
ATA abnormal status ox7E on port OxFFC*****

*stalls for about a minute*

ATA2 00qc timeout
ata2: SATA link up 1.5 GBps
ATA abnormal status ox7E on port OxFFC*****
ATA abnormal status ox7E on port OxFFC*****
ATA abnormal status ox7E on port OxFFC*****
ATA abnormal status ox7E on port OxFFC*****
ATA abnormal status ox7E on port OxFFC*****
ATA abnormal status ox7E on port OxFFC*****
ATA2 00qc timeout

*does the above about 4 times, including the stalls*

Ubuntu installed on the same HD does not do this(running 2.6.17)

the newest 2.6.19 kernel by default makes all PATA's SATA's, is this the problem?
After getting past this roadblock, sabayon runs fine(not slow at all)

Even the sabayon live DVD gave me this error....

Thanks for the help,
Nosrednaekim
