asus v9999le (Ge Force 6800le)

Hi everyone!

ohhh!I was so happy when I came back holding this huge fancy box of my new assus v9999le (GeForce 6800le 128Mb DDR) when this problem came to ruin my day (which is the same problem that made me write this using micro$oft windows)! I removed my old assus GeForce 5200 128 MB DDR and I was hoping that when I turn on my computer my nice-looking login manager (kdm) would appear. But unfortunately no! I had done a fresh installation of my debian system 3 days ago (cause I bought a new hd) so I am still using the 2.4 kernel (bf24 - the sarge one) and I haven't installed the nv drivers to enable the 3d because I have to compile a new kernel for that (thats what nv sais). But thats not the real problem! The problem is that when I typed the command "lspci" the bus of my card was deteced but the model of my chip (and card) was not, so the detection said Nvidia (unknown device).

Does anyone know how to fix that? Are there any incopatibilities with the specific chip?
