I consider buying a new graphics card (ASUS V9520/VS, GeForce FX5200), however I'm not sure if this card can really do what I want, under Debian. A little advise would be appreciated.
This card has two DVI ports and one S-video port. I like to connect my TV-decoder to the S-video port, my monitor to the first DVI port and my beamer to the second. Now it seems possible to use 'overlay' to switch between the various input and output devices. In my case I like to be able to watch TV on my monitor or beamer, watch DVD (from internal PC DVD player) on my monitor or beamer and get my desktop on my monitor or beamer.
Now I've a few questions:
- Is this possible with this card, at all?
- If so, are there linux drivers available? It seems that there are no ASUS drivers for linux available and only one linux driver from nVidia (http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._1.0-5336.html
), but it isn't clear to me whether it fits this card or not.
- I'm not familiar with the 'overlay' feature, how does it work in daily life? By the time I get all this working, how would I be able to switch between the different devices?
I don't really know what I'm dealing with yet, so I would appreciate it when someone can clear the sky above this project a little bit.
