Asus Touchpad Module Cannot Disable
 

I would like to remove touchpad module. I looked in xorg.conf file and it doesnt have a lines relating to Synaptic touchpad. Pls help.

Well, you can try removing "xserver-xorg-input-synaptics" package, or editing/moving/deleting "/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/11-x11-synaptics.fdi" file or driver file "/usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.so", because it seems asus_laptop module contains multiple functions (not only for touchpad), but i'm not 100% sure. But as I understand it, there are key-combinations for disabling touchpad (fn+f9 ?) on some laptops/netbooks, maybe you have one too?

<<removing "xserver-xorg-input-synaptics" package,>> could not find that, but i went into yast and removed all packages with word synaptic or touchpad packages. touchpad still works though. am i supposed to restart x server? i did a logout/login method.

if i do that key combination, however, it is supposed to lock touchpad but it seems it does not work when pressed!!!
