Asus P4P800 & SuSe 8.2

hi to all,
I'm in trouble with the installation of SuSe 8.2 on my new PC provided with an Asus P4P800 controller (processor Intel 863PE P4) and a Barracuda Serial ATA V disk drive 80GB.

When I try to install it raises the message "no hard disk found".
BTW I've tried winXP without any problems, just to try the disk!
Does anybody suggest me a way to do this, or are there some patches?
thanks in advance!

have you formatted hard disk for linux? were you planning to have a dual boot with xp? i've heard they don't go very well together...
you shoul specify your problem - when does the message show? before or after formatting?

ciao Nechos,
the problem arises before I try to format the disk, I'm not able to create partitions too, because no hard disk is visible into the Suse 8.2 built in installer GUI.
I think (I sink too!) that the problem is quite similar to that explained in www.linuxquestions.org/questions/history/74907
but the controller is not the same.
What I ask is:

a) is there a way to patch the kernel and make Linux recognizes the drive?

b) can I install it with enhanced mode switch on?

c) 2.4.22 , the latest stable kernel version, does host P4P800 support? ( as I can see the answear is no).

many thanks!
ciao!

i' m not sure about that, but i have another idea. i've heard of linux not supporting NFTS formatted drives. mandrake 9.1 solved this problem, but i'm not sure about suse 8.2. if it doesn't, i'd suggest using partition magic under windows to create linux partitions or to format the drive to FAT32. the second option erases all of your data, so it's better not to use it. hte first one should do (only if i'm right, tough), you could try it, shouldn't be harmful
