ASUS P4P800's Soundcard AD1985 and it's digital out don't work with SuSE 9

Hi, me again!

I bought a new mainboard, an ASUS P4P800. It's got a digital out for sound onboard. I connected my Creative "Inspire 2.1 digital" to this digital out. Well, my SuSE 9 Pro doesn't really understand that it's meant to play sound through this. I connected other speakers to my soundcard (other outputs), they do work. But since I use a very long cable I'm forced to use a digital connection.

How can I tell SuSE 9 Pro to play sound through the digital output?

Well OK, so I downloaded this new ALSA-Driver 0.9.6 from asus.com and tried to install it...
But when trying make install bash prompts an error: snd-pnp.o file or folder does not exist.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

I think you should make it before make install.
But you may still have problems to get it work:-)
I'm huntting for the solution too.
