Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Apple Mons???

I am running a PC with Linux at the moment, with a CRT. I am thinking of getting a flat LCD and the Apple one seems quite nice:
http://store.apple.com/133-622/WebOb...y&mco=2C6780B1

However, the last time I see it says the 20 inch or above will only work on Mac OSX and NOT Windows XP.

Now it says VESA compatiable, so does it mean that it will work on Linux???

I am looking at the 20inch btw.

Thanks.

I just stumped up for the 23" version...
The instruction manual says it will work with windows given the right graphics card.
I'm using it on a mac, but I do have a slackware box with a NV 6600GT which I intend to try it on.
It is a great screen btw, far better than my old Iiyama A201HT...
I'll endeavour to post back with some more info when I get back from work...

From apple.com...

System Requirements

20-inch Cinema and 23-inch Cinema HD Displays

* - Power Mac G4 or G5 with NVIDIA graphics card or ATI Radeon 7500 or better graphics card and Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later
* - PowerBook G4 with DVI port and Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later
* - Windows PC and graphics card that supports DVI ports with full single-link digital bandwidth and VESA DDC standard for plug and play setup

After looking at:

http://micke.hallendal.net/archives/...nema_di_1.html
and
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Appl...Cinema_Display

It looks like even the 30" model will work - given a suitable vga card.

When I have time - I'll try it out myself...
