apache server configuration

I need to deploy a dedicated Apache on Linux server which will host drupal based website. to serve around 5000 simultaneous requests. I need suggestions from experts on Hardware and Apache configuration, load balancing and clustering etc.

You may be better placed asking this question on the apache users list

There is no issue with Apache, Linux {php+mysql} + Drupal - that's pretty trivial to set up. I can't answer your 'will it support this many requests', hence pointing you to the Apache users list (http://httpd.apache.org/userslist.html : users@httpd.apache.org )
