Apache: child pid XXX exit signal Segmentation fault (11)

I keep getting numerous lines like the following in my apache error log (when it's set to verbose logging):

[Wed Jul 23 18:20:14 2003] [notice] child pid 18798 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Wed Jul 23 18:20:14 2003] [notice] child pid 18799 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Wed Jul 23 18:20:33 2003] [notice] child pid 18800 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Wed Jul 23 18:20:33 2003] [notice] child pid 22501 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Wed Jul 23 18:21:02 2003] [notice] child pid 22616 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Wed Jul 23 18:21:02 2003] [notice] child pid 22624 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Wed Jul 23 18:21:48 2003] [notice] child pid 22625 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)

It does not seem to affect performance, and I don't seem to have any other signal 11 complaints while compiling, running, etc any other application. All the information that I can see on line tends to indicate that I should suspect a hardware (RAM) problem first, but I'm not sure how to test the RAM on linux. Additionally all I've read about signal 11 problems pointing to hardware issues talk about 486 and before intel processor machines w/ <= 128 MB RAM, so I am not sure how relevant they are to Pentium 4's at 2.66 GHz with 2GB RAM.

Any suggestions/help out there?

Doh! More info:

Apache 2.0, RH9.0 all current errata, I think that I'm running PC2700 RAM on a ABIT IS-7, so I think that RAM is a little slower than the MoBo can take which might be causing the problems, but again, why only with Apache?
