Any FREE Conexant Drivers around?

Trying to find Conexant linux driver for my modem, but all the web pages refer me to linuxant.com. And linuxant.com charges $15 for the driver. Some may see that as "Not too bad," but I don't see it that way -- the modem itself isn't even worth $15. I understand why linuxant has to do what they do, but still...

Anyway, most of the reference pages on the internet were written before linuxant started charging for their drivers. That means I'm stuck.

Anybody know of a driver for my conexant modem? A push in the right direction (web link, name to search for, etc) is appreciated. A direct link to a driver--free, that is--would be something on the order of splendiforous.

Thanks.

Their drivers are proprietary. I know mandrake has the drivers available for download from their club or when you buy their boxed set. I believe redhat boxed set has those proprietary drivers on there too. But, it's their software.

If you are stuck using a modem, you should pick up a hardware modem. It'll save you headaches and days jerking around with a software modem install. But, I'll assume you are poor since 15 bucks is alot. So, .. no, out of options there. Maybe write to the company and tell them it should be free as in beer? I dunno. Good luck.
