Another Winmodem trouble in RH9

Hello all
I had once installed by pctel (pct789) modem successfully in my RH9 box. Unfortunately i had to reinstall RH9 and after that there has been some wierd problems. Kppp will dial and connect me to internet. fine. But i cant access any websites by names. I have to provide their ip addresses. I had provided auto dns in kppp options. In fact "dmesg|tail" showed me those DNS servers too. but still i cant point my browser to any name. the following is the output of "tail -f /var/log/messages". (The connection was closed by me and no problem connecting). I also used the latest modem driver this time and founf that i cant turn off my modem sound, not even with ATM0L0 explicitly given in initializaton string. any help????? anybody pleaseeee
