Analog joystick not working in Fedora 10

I am trying to find out what I need to do to get an analog joystick working in Fedora 10. I just downloaded a source RPM and will try that.
I did see a module called gameport when I did a lsmod. Am I on the right track?

Update, since I have not yet seen any posts on the subject...

The source RPM would not compile properly. Anyway, I did a modprobe analog the other day and when I then did an lsmod, it showed up on the list. The audio card is a Creative Soundblaster from about 95 with a joystick port. The modules show up as Ensoniq something since I think they use the Ensoniq chip. When I did a grep -n "analog" in the proc directory, it also showed up in a file ksysall (I think). I don't believe that the devs exist for the joystick, however. Do I just need to list the analog module in the conf file for modules to load at boot time? I want to use the joystick in DOS games running in DosBox under linux.

Posting a little more info to try and get a bump. Yesterday I played with the whole module thing again and even tried inserting a few more modules. My kid then tried a MAKEDEV in /dev/input to get /dev/js#. After all that still nothing. There is a directory in /etc called /modprobe.d. In it is a .conf file which I looked at yesterday. Just not sure what to do exactly. He (my son) has some info off a site that is specific to a SB Live card and a module called emu10k1 (I believe). I don't know if that is even relevant to our situation. When I did a modprobe analog and then a lsmod I did see that analog got installed and that the module gameport said that it was being used by analog. Of course all of the /dev/input/js# files disappear after reboot.
Sometimes it is just a bit difficult to get the old school stuff to cooperate...
