AMD64 and Asus K8V SE deluxe mobo

Howdy~

I just bought a new system, here's the spec:
Athlon64 2800+
Asus K8V SE deluxe
1024 MB DDR400 SDRAM
Asus ATI Radeon 9200 128MB
Running on Redhat 9

I tried the ATI fglrx driver from www.ati.com and got this message from dmesg:
Code:
agpgart: maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 861M
agpgart: Unsupported ia chipset (device id: 3188), you might want to try agp_try_unsupported=1
agpgart: no supported device found
[fglrx: firegl_unlock] *ERROR* Process 866 using kernel context 0
[fglrx: drm_ioremapfree] *ERROR* [mappings] Attempt to free NULL pointer
I reckon it might be the new K8T800 chipset because this problem did not occur on my other KT600 mobo...

Also... i did not notice any speed difference before and upgrading the kernel... anybody using AMD64 did any speed comparison test in Linux?

Any advice is appreciable

Cheers~
~WiLL~

What kernel are you using because i think that the amd64-agp module for agpgart is not in RH8-9. Kernel 2.4.24 i think has it. When you do (or if) recompile a kernel, just select agpgart and amd64-agp (not AMD Irongate or anything else) and you should be fine. Compile them both INTO the kernel. Again as long as you update your kernel to something above 2.4.24 it "should" work.

I see...
I'll give that a try~!

By the way, how did you get your kernel to work in 64-bits?

Thanks a lot for your reply

64bit Linux is sweet. A lot of the programs that are used in 32 work well in 64. Obviously some programs just won't work (i.e. anything openGL for 32 bit however, i can emulate 32bit now with the new Nvidia drivers). I notice you have an ATI card. You won't get 3D OpenGL in 64bit with ATI. You can use the X server but with no 3D acceleration. Other than that 64 bit is worth the try.

Alright, bro~

Ohh... thats a waste... but I'd reckon they'll come out with a new driver sooner or later

So what kernel are you using? Will 2.6.6 do the trick?
What else did you compiled into the kernel?

Cheers mate!~
