Is it possible to operate a K6-2 processor on a Socket 7 mainboard (Soyo 5BT5)? I know the processor is pin compatible, but will it work, as it is designed for Super Socket 7? I thought operating it at around 300MHz, about the max the mainboard would permit (75MHz x 4). The actual Intel processor is simply too slow.

Thanks
Doubt it will work I tried similar on an old QDI board with a BIOS that supposedly supported the chip it would not boot reliably and your board according to the PDF manual only talks K6 266 you could try playing with the jumpers to see if it work with its settings.
Thanks. Well I don't have any K6-2 now. I just thought I could get one used, as they are quite inexpensive these days. I've overclocked the Pentium a bit for now, but the multi is locked , so I could only rise the FSB.
