Unhappy ALSA modules failed to load for CMI8738 in RH9

Hello everyone.

I'm following the instructions from ALSA's page on my card (CMI8738) to the letter. Here is a link.

http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc...&module=cmipci

I've configured and made my drivers, libraries, and utilities using the latest packages (1.0.3) and I'm now at the step where I have to insert the modules into the kernel. I guess the command is:

[root@localhost sbin]# ./modprobe snd-cmipci

but everytime I try that, I get this:

/lib/modules/2.4.20-30.9/kernel/sound/pci/snd-cmipci.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.20-30.9/kernel/sound/pci/snd-cmipci.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20-30.9/kernel/sound/pci/snd-cmipci.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.20-30.9/kernel/sound/pci/snd-cmipci.o: insmod snd-cmipci failed

Can anyone clue me in to what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

PS: Here is the output from lspci, if that helps at all.

Does anyone know what is going wrong? I'm really at a total loss and I don't know where else I'd find an answer.
