alsa mandrake9.1 audigy install prob

I'm running mandrake 9.1 and trying to get the sound to work. sound is unmuted but still can't get anything. i have been trying to install the newest alsa drivers and i keep getting this:

[root@localhost alsa-driver-0.9.6]# ./configure --with-cards=emu101k --with-sequencer=yes;make;make install
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output... a.out
checking whether the C compiler works... yes
checking whether we are cross compiling... no
checking for executable suffix...
checking for object suffix... o
checking whether we are using the GNU C compiler... yes
checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes
checking for ranlib... ranlib
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking how to run the C preprocessor... gcc -E
checking for ANSI C header files... yes
checking for gcc option to accept ANSI C... none needed
checking for an ANSI C-conforming const... yes
checking for inline... inline
checking whether time.h and sys/time.h may both be included... yes
checking whether gcc needs -traditional... no
checking for current directory... /usr/src/alsa/alsa-driver-0.9.6
checking cross compile...
checking for directory with kernel source... /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.25mdk/build
checking for kernel version... The file /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.25mdk/build/include/linux/version.h does not exist.
Please, install the package with full kernel sources for your distribution
or use --with-kernel=dir option to specify another directory with kernel
sources (default is /usr/src/linux).

I have the following symlinks:

[root@localhost alsa-driver-0.9.6]# ls /usr/src/linux
2.4.21-0.21-0.25mdk@ linux-2.3.21-0.25@ version.h@
config-2.4.2-0.25mdk@ linux2.3.21-0.25@
kernel.h-2.4.21-0.25mdk@ linux.h-2.4.21-0.25mdk@

what am i missing? i still can't compile the alsa driver.

Go to RPM installer package and install the kernel source code. To make sure you have the right kernel source code. At the console type cat /proc/version

Don't use semi-colons. Use && instead.

You may want to specify --with-kernel=/usr/src/linux or --with-kernel=linux-2.4.21-0.21-0.25mdk to the ./configure.

If you want other ALSA features type ./configure --help to get a list of none default options.

i double checked and kernel-source is installed for 2.4.21-0.25.

i tried specifing the kernel:
[root@localhost alsa-driver-0.9.6]# ./configure --with-kernel=linux-2.4.21-0.25mdk --with-cards=emu10k1 --with-sequencer=yes;make.make install

and got same message of version.h does not exist.

i also tried :
[root@localhost alsa-driver-0.9.6]# ./configure --with-kernel=/usr/src/linux --with-cards=emu10k1 --with-sequencer=yes;make;make install

and got the message of version.h does not exist.

i got it figured out. somehow the kernel source file for x.x.x.-0.25 has completely disappeared. i can't install or uninstall it. i am able to find just the kernel x.x.x.-0-25. how odd. i reverted back to my kernel x.x.x.-0.13 and all is compiling well.
