You need 5 posts to post a URL and not, it's not "bulls**t" as people here don't really like spam.

Where did you get this archive from? It might be incomplete or corrupted. The "install.sh" is probably a dead symlink, type "ls -l" and make sure it is pointing to a real file.

Btw, why do you want to use source (and to install ALSA utils, don't you have it with your distro??) to install ALSA? You better use Centos RPM, it would be easier.

Well

Incase you didnt know RPMS must be installed as root and leave security holes in your system also in some cases having it built for you specific system makes your system faster but ill do it anyway ive tryed 3 diferent versions and no luck .

If you think you will be able to install ALSA-utils from source without root access, you are wrong... If you aren't root, you shouldn't install anything, is this your system or not?

Sometime... but I don't really see how this would be useful for sound card utility. Anyways if you want real speed improvement, you need to use some GCC flags and it's a bit tricky.

Anyways... have you tried the "stable" one? Found on ALSA website :
ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/utils...1.0.9a.tar.bz2

I have root access..........I'm the only one who uses the computer and never mind i bypassed using the utils by using kmixer or sumthing included with the kde interface. and theres no rpm for centos and none of them are from alsa which makes me not want to use them i have no idea who has compiled them.
