Red face ALS4000 Sound card not working with RHLinux9.0

Hi friends,
I am a new user from inida. I am using RedHat Linux 9.0. My sound card is Avance Logic made ALS4000. But it is now working with my version. But the same card is working with Mandrake Linux 9.0. Can anybody put a solution ?

regards
Bipin

Because Mandrake uses ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture), while Red Hat 9 does not.

Either you can upgrade to Fedora Core 2, or use Freshrpms.net's ALSA packages.
However, it will be best to compile ALSA yourself for the latest update version.

RH9.0 didn't come with hotplugging, so it doesn't auto-detect cards too well. One thing really is to skip ahead to a release of Fedora Core... just so you have recent releases of everything. But to just start on getting it working, what's the output of:

/sbin/lspci

Cheers,
