Alcatel Speedtouch ADSL modem and usbcore

Hi

Can anyone advise me on the usbcore?

I have been connecting and disconnecting my Alcatel Speedtouch 330 ADSL modem by using the commands:

/etc/init.d/speedtouch start
and
/etc/init.d/speedtouch.stop

When disconnecting using the stop command I have always received the following message:

"Shutting down ADSL connection: process in pidfile `/var/run/ppp0.p", shortly followed by "done".

However, since connecting an Epson 870 USB printer about a week ago I now receive the following message when disconnecting the modem:

"Shutting down ADSL connection: process in pidfile `/var/run/ppp0.pid 'usbcore:
Device or resource busy failed".

In spite of this, the modem appears to switch off correctly, ie the two green lights go out. Has anyone any idea why I have now started to receive these "failed" messages? I can only assume it is somehow connected to the fact that I have now added a USB printer to my computer. The strange thing is that I still get this "failed" message when I use the modem stop command whether the printer is physically connected or not. I only plug it in if I actually want to do some printing: not every time I use the computer.

I suppose this is not really a big problem as even though I get a "failed" message, the modem appears to be disconnecting properly, but I'm one of those people who finds error messages slightly irritating and likes to try and get rid of them !!

I am using SuSE 8.2 Personal.

Did you ever resolve this ?

I have the same problem however my Speedtouch modem is the only USB device connected. The issue I have is that once I get this error I cannot start or restart the modem connection without rebooting.

Any assistance appreciated,

the only advice i can give with adsl modems and the connection to the net is...if its not broken don`t fix it! usb adsl modems are not the easiest of things to get a direct connection to the net with so...if it`s not a major prob and u can still diss then I shouldn`t worry about it too much
But u never know someone may post a solution :-)
