Airport Extreme

I have a new 12" powerbook and I was thinking about installing some form of linux on it (yellow dog or mandrake). I was wondering if the Airport Extreme card was supported and if it was relatively easy to make it work (relatively easy meaning not having to recompile the kernel).

Also, does anybody know if mac on linux supports panther?

Thanks in Advance,

Chris

Good news: mol supports panther.

Bad news: airport extreme is not supported, broadcom refuses to release info on their chipset=no linux driver, there are some efforts underway to reverse engineer or make a wrapper for the driver but these may be a ways off.

I run Gentoo on my PB G4, and just use a cheapie wireless card for now. Everything is really well supported with the PPC gentoo distribution. I suggest you check t out.

have fun.

What wireless card are you using? also how did you get it to fit assuming that your powerbook has the wireless card slot next to the bat.
