AIC-7901A U320 Dell Precision 670 Linux 2.4 Not Found - Build from Source?
I have unsucessfully attempted to get 3 distributions to recognize the AIX-7901A SCSI Controller built-in to the motherboard on the Dell Precision 670.
Slackware 9.1 Knoppix 3.4 Debian 3.0 Windows XP also doesn't recognize this card on a default installation. You need to load the drivers from a floppy on installation. The source code to the drivers are available from Adaptec's website. How does one go about creating a boot disk containing these drivers in the kernel? Adaptec lists their SCSI Driver Source Code for Linux Kernel Versions 2.6 but I wouldn't know how to go about doing anything with this. Is this something we leave to the Linux 2.6 Development team? mb |
The only two distro's I have found to load the 320 drivers have been Fedora Core 3 and Mandrake 10.0 . You should be able to download the drivers and dd if=name-of-file of=/dev/fd0 and install the driver when prompted for from the floppy
