AGP problems on radeon 9600 pro on mandrake 9.2

I managed to get 2D working fine, downloaded and installed the ATI binary for my version of Xfree and installed the kernal sources (Damn mandrake for not including them on the CD's....grr) and did the two scripts it told me to run after I installed the RPM...now I cant get a GUI at all.

From what I can gather there is a problem with my AGP settings somewhere, but being a total newbie to all this Im not certain what to do about it. Heres my xfree-logfile for you to pore over, the only errors I could see are at the end (Due to huge message length I cant seem to post it here, so you can download it from www.twigathy.com/XFreelog.log

Tried using the AGP Gart external module, loading it before running X but still doesnt work, any inspirational ideas?

Here's what you have to do in order:

1. Download and install your kernel source rpm, if its mandrake 9.2 default should be 24.22.10.
install with: rpm -i --force <filename>
2. Download the latest ATI driver for your Xfree version
install with: rpm -i --force <filename>
3 go into /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod and type ./make.sh
4 go back one dir to /lib/modules/fglrx and type ./make_install.sh
5 run fglrxinfo and setup your hardware accordingly
6 reboot and hope it works

I did this and got my 9700 pro working, well at least most of the time

done all of those steps, i rebooted, hoped but unfortunately it didnt work

Did you tell frglxconfig to load the external agp module?
also search the distrubutions/mandrake forum and look for a post started by NBN
and see if it helps you.

Also be sure to look at the driver from ATI and make sure its for the i586 architecture, if not look here http://www.schneider-digital.de/html/download_ati.html

Yes, i've tried both the external and internal modules, and the external one is compiled ok, so thats not the problem

Anyone had any bright ideas? My mobo is an ASRock k7s5a
